Quaro: Criminal Data Platform

Quaro is a criminal data platform that centralizes and visualizes criminal justice data through intuitive and interactive dashboards to support precise crime mitigation efforts.

Quaro consists of an Advanced Prosecution Module (APM) and Criminal Network Visualization (CNV) application that, together, enable users to interact with different data sources, drill down, and identify networks responsible for driving the majority of serious and violent crime.

Funded through a public-private partnership by the Bernalillo County District Attorney and the Business Coalition for a Better Albuquerque — PNM Resources, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, Bank of Albuquerque, French Funerals and Cremations, and New Mexico Mutual — Quaro is a significant milestone for data-driven solutions to help improve the prosecution of serious crimes and repeat offenders.

Supporting Crime Mitigation

Quaro consists of an Advanced Prosecution Module (APM) and Criminal Network Visualization (CNV) application.

The APM consolidates and organizes a detailed data collection on defendants, victims, weapons and other relevant information. Meanwhile, the CNV visualizes connections across attributes to reveal links between people, locations and incidents.

In combination, these capabilities enable law enforcement and prosecutors to identify networks driving serious crime in the community.

Delivering Novel Insights

The amount of raw data related to public safety and criminal justice is often siloed and overwhelming to analyze.

To make data accessible and put it in context, Quaro allows analysts and prosecutors to filter, sort, and navigate through data in a simplified view to cut through the noise.

To select an appropriate and strategic course of action for a case, for example, a prosecutor or analyst can use Quaro to research a case in the context of other criminal activity.

Advancing Data-Driven Capabilities for Community Safety

Quaro is bringing new technology and capabilities to New Mexico and setting a new standard for data-driven technology in crime mitigation for district attorney offices across the country.
